Bengaluru:
In a recent press meet the founder of Nithyananda Global Initiatives (NGI), Paramahamsa Nithyananda emphasized on the need to preserve and support the Indian values of a stable family system. In the larger context, a stable family helps to promote a peaceful and progressive society. In an answer to a question, Nithyananda stressed on the vital role a stable family plays, as an integral element in the maintenance of a peaceful and successful society in terms of providing material and emotional support in raising our younger generation. He said, the main reason for the negative aspects in the society like terrorism, violence, drugs, teenage abortions and problems among youth like increased school and college drop-out rate, drug trafficking, unrecorded crimes etc are due to the disintegration of the stable family system.
A healthy, stable family is the basis for physical and spiritual well-being for its members and provides a healthy, balanced and fruitful resource for the society. With this as a basis, all the services done by NGI are aimed at creating a stable family environment, more so for the less privileged section of the society.
A healthy body makes for a healthy mind – NGI’s food and nutrition programs, Holistic Education for children and Community Health programs aim at satisfying the basic needs of people – Food, Health and Education to enable them to stand on their own feet and become independent.
The role of women as pillars of a balanced family and in turn a stable society cannot be over emphasized. With this view, the different schemes offered by NGI’s Women’s Empowerment program aims at encouraging women especially widows and divorced women, providing them vocational training and non formal education that will help them become strong, confident and independent members of the society.
NGI’s Youth Awakening initiative has helped thousands of youth find answers to their problems in meditation and yoga thus keeping them away from drugs and violence.
The Disaster Relief cell of NGI played its role by providing food, clothing and shelter for the victims of one of the worst floods that affected the villages of Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. As this article is being written, work is on in full swing to provide long term housing to the people who lost their houses during the flood.
In conclusion, Paramahamsa Nithyananda called for support from the media saying that the role of the media would ultimately help in promoting the stable family system thus bringing about global peace and harmony.
